You must choose a book that is the appropriate age level/reading level.
Honors English: British authors only
(until the library runs out)
Regular English: Any author
(Bonus points for choosing a British author)
Theatre: I would prefer a book that relates to the theatre
(a play, a bio/autobio of someone connected to the theatre, a book about design, etc.)
Independent Reading Assignment
Once you finish your book you must create a 30 second video using http://animoto.com/
The video should be like a trailer for your book. Give us the overall picture of what your book is about.
You need to write a 1-2 page write up that should include a BRIEF summary, and you need to use the rest of your paper to discuss the theme of the book and any other literary issues you wish to address such as characterization, language usage, etc.
You must sign up to present your book between
Sept. 15-19. Presentations not to exceed 5 minutes.
Rubric
Reading Checks 30 Points
At least once a week I will check your reading progress. Please bring your book to class everyday.
Video 20 Points
Your video must be 30 seconds long and have appropriate videos as well as sound. Your video is essentially a trailer for your book.
Paper 35 Points
Your paper must be well written and adhere to conventional grammar standards. Your paper must be 1-2 pages in length. Your paper must cover the theme of the book and any other literary devices you wish to discuss.
Presentation 15 Points
Your presentation, including your video, is NOT to exceed 5 minutes.
